Our story
Small press, big shelves
Ashgrove Quill Press started in 2009 as a single spinner rack at a weekend market. Sixteen years later we are San Francisco's loudest little comic shop — part store, part press, all heart — publishing indie voices and hand-selling the issues we love.
How we got here
One rack at the market
Ash starts selling back issues and small-press zines from a spinner rack, learning what readers actually reach for.
The doors open
The Quill Lane shop opens with wall-to-wall long boxes, a pull-list wall and free coffee on Saturdays.
The press begins
We start publishing our own indie titles — including Nightfall Chronicles — printed locally and sold everywhere.
Maya — Curator
Indie specialist, staff-pick machine.
The crew
Ash reads everything before it hits the wall. Maya hunts down the indie gems nobody else stocks. Together with our Saturday regulars-turned-volunteers, we keep the pull lists tight and the recommendations honest — if it is on our shelf, one of us loved it first.
Ash — Founder
Curator, collector, storyteller. Knows every hidden gem on the shelves and remembers your pull list better than you do.
Maya — Curator
Champion of the indie scene. Her recommendation wall has launched a dozen local favourites, including Nightfall Chronicles.
